Contact Lens FAQs

March 29,2019

Thinking about  Getting Contact Lenses?  There's a lot of information out there; so it can get overwhelming .  Here are some of the answers to many Contact Lens FAQs that will hopefully help clear things up for you as you consider getting contact lenses.

How long you can wear Contact Lenses in a Day?

Your optician will be able to discuss with you what is best in your individual case, but as a general point, it's recommended that you wear your contact lenses for a maximum of 10-12 hours per day. Wearing your lenses for longer may cause your eyes to become uncomfortable, red and prone to infection.

Is it bad to wear Contact Lenses every day?

Can Contact Lenses Damage Your Eyes? Contact lenses are very safe. Still, wearing contact lenses can damage your eyes if you wear them too long, fail to clean them properly or do not replace them as directed by your eye doctor.

Can you rub your eyes with Contacts?

Sometimes, if you rub your eyes or get bumped in the eye when wearing a soft contact lens, the lens might fold in half and dislodge from the cornea. ... If this occurs, you can usually find the lens by adding a few contact lens rewetting drops to your eye and then gently massaging your eyelid with your eye closed.

Do Contacts make your eye Worse ?

No, contacts do not make your eyes worse. ... So when they are told they've become more nearsighted at their annual eye exams, it's natural to suspect their myopia progression may be due to wearing contacts.

Can I use monthly contact lenses for longer?

Optician's answer. Your monthly lenses should be thrown away 30 days after opening the contact lens blister pack, regardless of how many times you 've worn them. Using lenses for longer than recommended can potentially cause an eye infection, irritation while wearing the contact lenses, and blurred vision.

Is it OK to take a nap with contacts?

While it's true it's less risky to nap in your lenses than sleep all night, it's still not a good idea. Your cornea needs oxygen from the surrounding air. ... Generally, you should try and avoid depriving your organs of oxygen. Your eyes need to breathe and sleeping in contacts prevents them from doing so.

Can you swim with Contacts?

Swimming with contacts can result in eye infections, irritation and potentially sight-threatening conditions such as a corneal ulcer. The FDA recommends that contact lenses should not be exposed to any kind of water, including tap water and water in swimming pools, oceans, lakes, hot tubs and showers

How Do I fix a Blurry Contacts?

When a contact lens is dirty from general wear or exposure to the environment, it can become blurry. After you wash your hands with soap and water, remove, clean and rinse the lens with an appropriate contact lens solution. Tap water or saliva should never be used to clean or clear contact lenses.

Here's what to do, and what not to do, when wearing and caring for your contacts.

1 DO keep hands clean. ...
2 DO clean your lens case. ...
3 DON'T “top off” contact lens solution. ...
4 DON'T buy contacts without a prescription. ...
5 DO ask your eye doctor if you can sleep in contact lenses. ...
6  DON'T bathe with contacts in.

If contact lenses sound like a good idea to you, the first thing you need is a prescription. If you still have questions, check out to our email so we can answer all your questions

Multi purpose solutions helps in caring for contact lenses to expand the life span of our lenses. What could be more convenient than a one size fits all approach to ensuring lenses are safe to wear?
It requires rinsing with sterile saline or a multi-purpose solution afterwards. As with hydrogen peroxide solutions, this product should never be placed directly in your eye. Daily cleaner is for cleaning your contact lenses. Multipurpose solution is for cleaning, rinsing, disinfecting and storing your contact lenses - and when used correctly offer many benefits. As with any solution though, it’s important to ensure that it is used correctly.

Lens should be cleaned (by following the method of care) afterwards stored in fresh solution after each use. After lenses are retrieved from the solution to be worn again, the lens case should be cleaned using fresh solution, wiped gently with tissue, and then left to air dry. Care should be taken to ensure that only a solution recommended by an optician is used – and that solutions past their expiry date are discarded and replaced.

Please take a note

Use antibacterial soap where possible, and dry your hands with a lint-free towel. Don't use oil or lotion-based soaps, which can cloud or soil your lenses. Do use fresh, contact lens cleaning solution every time. Don't use tap or sterile water, saliva, saline solution or rewetting drops.
